\nDeath toll due to malnutrition and epidemics continues to climb as three more children died in different areas of Tharparkar, health department said on Saturday.
\nAccording to details, among dozens affected of malnutrition and under treatment at Civil Hospital Mithi and Tehsil Hospital Chachro, three children expired.
\nThe latest deaths have taken the death toll in Tharparkar in May to 33 and 296 in the ongoing year. According to the health department, every year 1,500 children die due to malnutrition, infections and lack of proper medical facilities in the remote region.
\nA report released by the United Nation\u2019s Children Fund in April 2018 stated that Pakistan is among countries with the highest infant mortality rate, with 22 infants dying before turning one-month-old. Among these countries, eight are in Africa and two in Asia, including Afghanistan which is ranked third.
