Islamabad (PR): The \u201817th International Pure Mathematics Conference\u2019 has started at a local hotel in Islamabad. The 3-day international conference was inaugurated by Engineer Baligh ur Rehman, Minister of State for Education. Preston University is one of the co-organizers of the referenced conference.
\nThe other co-organizers are Islamia University Bahawalpur, and Advanced Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Islamabad. The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan and Pakistan Mathematical Society are the sponsors of the event.
\nEminent scholars, intellectuals, mathematicians and scientists, from eminent Pakistan universities and abroad, are participating and presenting papers at the conference.
\nIn keynote address on the occasion Chief Guest, Engr. Baligh ur Rehman, Minister of State for education at the outset expressed his profound gratitude to the organizers of the conference for inviting him to chair the 17th International Pure Mathematics Conference\u2019 as chief guest.
\nHe congratulated the organizers and sponsors of the conference for their endeavors to organize a conference on a subject of vital importance such as mathematics.
\nHe also extended a warm welcome to the foreign and local delegates to the conference for their participation in the event. Mr. Baligh ur Rehman said it is a universal fact that Mathematics has played and continues to play a significant role in the development of countries which are today ranked among the highly developed societies of the world.
\nEngr. Baligh ur Rehman emphasized on the occasion that mathematics is an extremely important field of education and there is a dire need to promote education in this area at all levels of education in the country.
\nHe said that the incumbent government is making every possible endeavor to promote the cause of state-of-the-art scientific education in the country.
\nHe expressed the hope that the 17th International Pure Mathematics Conference would provide a unique opportunity to participating delegates from within the country and abroad to share and learn from each other\u2019s experiences.
\nEminent among the other speakers who addressed the inaugural ceremony of the conference were Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, President Pakistan Mathematical Society (PMS) and Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University.
\nThey expressed their gratitude to all the delegates for participating and presenting papers at the conference. Participation of the foreign delegates was particularly appreciated by them.
