\nFormer Test cricketer Mohsin Khan has stepped down as Chair of the Pakistan Cricket Board\u2019s Cricket Committee, which was tasked to carry out a thorough review of the national team\u2019s performance following the ICC Men\u2019s Cricket World Cup 2019.
\nIn a press statement on Thursday, the PCB said Mohsin Khan expressed his willingness to be released from his current position during a recent meeting with PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani, who accepted his request.
\n\u201cIt is always difficult to let go someone of Mohsin\u2019s stature and caliber, but we respect his decision. I am thankful to Mohsin for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors,\u201d PCB chairman Ehsan Mani was quoted as saying.
\nMohsin Khan said he was thankful to PCB and the chairman for the opportunity to chair the committee. \u201cMy services are always available for Pakistan cricket at a suitable position in view of my past record,\u201d he said.
\nThe Board said its managing Director, Wasim Khan, would now act as the Chair of the PCB Cricket Committee.
\nAccording to the PCB, the special committee will carry out a robust review of the Pakistan cricket team\u2019s performance over the past three years. The committee will start its review at the end of the ICC Men\u2019s Cricket World Cup 2019, and submit its recommendations to the PCB Chairman and the Board of Governors.
\nOther members of the committee include former Pakistan captains Wasim Akram and Misbah-ul-Haq, and former cricketer and head of the women\u2019s selection committee Urooj Mumtaz.
\nThe special committee was originally constituted by PCB chairman Ehsan Mani in October last year to oversee all cricketing matters in the country.
\nThe development came about after the Board\u2019s chiefs discussed the team\u2019s performance during the 54th PCB\u2019 Board of Governors meeting in Lahore on Wednesday presided over by Chairman Ehsan Mani.
\nAccording to a press release from the PCB, the Board had a discussion on the Pakistan cricket team\u2019s recent performance across all formats.
\n\u201cThe members agreed the team\u2019s performance in the ICC Men\u2019s Cricket World Cup 2019 to date has been below expectation, but expressed faith, support and confidence in the side, and hoped they will utilise all their talent and potential in the remaining matches to bounce back strongly and finish on a high,\u201d the Board said in a press release following the meeting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
