KHYBER AGENCY: Urging teachers to honestly perform their duties, Fata officials and parliamentarians on Sunday said they can not defeat terrorism and extremism until and unless they not provide quality of education to children in Fata.
\nSpeakers including Fata director education Hashim Khan Afridi,MNA from NA-46, Nasir Khan Afridi and deputy Fata parliamentary leader Alhaj Shahjee Gul Afridi said this while addressing to a gathering titled “Shuhada Conference” held at the government Higher Secondary School No in Jamrud.
\nThe conference, organized by All Teachers Association(ATA)Khyber Agency chapter, was attended by a large numbers of government officials,teachers and students of different schools and colleges and Fata parliamentarians.
\nFata education director Hashim was the chief guest said that several of their colleagues lost their lives in the line of duties. He said one of his teachers were beheaded few years ago but his body could not found yet.
\n“I am optimistic that the days of militancy and extremism have gone and now it is our religious and constitutional duty to jointly work for peace and uplift of Fata”. said Hashim and added that 90 percent of state schools in Bara had been destroyed that deprived thousands of children of poor parents from the constitutional right.
\nThe education official said hat total 1195 schools had either partially damaged or destroyed by militants in Fata. He said 281 of those schools have already been rehabilitated. He said repairing work on the rest of the schools would soon get started.
\nHe said rehabilitation work on the 22 destroyed or partially damaged schools in Bara would soon be completed and would commence classes from the next year.
\nMNA Nasir Khan Afridi and MNA Alhaj Shahjee Gul said that the core issue of Fata people was the system being established in the light of Frontier Crimes Regulations(FCR).
\nShahjee Gul said that tribal people would soon hear good news regarding the Fata status.
\nShahjee said besides teachers and other government employees a large number of civilians have also rendered sacrifices but they did not compromise on the solidarity of Pakistan.
\nNasir Khan said a join efforts was inevitable to give pen rather to give them gun for destruction.
\nATA Fata general secretary Nasir Shah and GS Ghafar Shinwari said that several of their students and teachers have been arrested under the collective act of FCR. They lamented the Khyber Agency political agent for not attending the gathering said that they have invited PA Khalid Mehmood to listen their problems.
