ISLAMABAD(INP): Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has appointed a twenty member parliamentary committee on National Accountability Law.
\nThe committee has been formed in pursuance of motion adopted by the National Assembly on 17th August,2016 in consultation with Chairman Senate and leaders of the parliamentary parties.
\nThe committee consists of Mr Zahid Hamid, , Lt. Gebneral Rtd Abdul Qadir Baloch, Ms Anusha Rehman Khan, Mr Usman Ibrahim, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk, Mr Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha, Syed Naveed Qamar, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Hussain Qureshi, Mr S.A. Iqbal Quadri, Ms Naeema Kishwar Khan, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, Mr Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, MNAs and Senators Mr Farhatullah Babar, Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Mr Saud Majeed, Mr Muhammad Javed Abbasi, , Mr Mohammad AzamKhan swsati, Barrister Muhammad Ali Khan Saif and Mr Muhammad Daud Khan Achakzai.
\nThe terms of Reference of the committee include revisiting the National Accountability Ordinance,1999 and recommending necessary amendments therein.
\nThe Committee has been asked to prevent its report within three months from the date of its notification.
\nIt is worth mentioning that the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 22nd December, 2016 observed that voluntary return of the embezzled money by public servants under the provisions of the National Accountability Bureau Ordinance was increasing corruption and such officials should not be allowed to remain in service.
\nSeveral political leaders have also termed plea bargain law as \u2018fraud\u2019, saying that it leads to only a small amount being recovered from the culprit.
\nThe plea bargain has been criticized by PPP, Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan and by Imran Khan.
\nPunjab Chief Minsiter Shehbaz Sharif said that the law was made by a dictator and further deliberation needs to be carried out on it. He further said that plea bargain is offered with a punishment in law abiding societies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
