PESHAWAR: Government of Khyber Paktunkwa is working on education reforms which include infrastructure development and improving teaching quality in schools through a series initiatives such as provision of missing facilities, Stipend and vouchers programs for students, improvement in governance through IMU and Automated Action Management and trainings of more than 83,000 teachers through international education partners such as British Council and Jolly Phonics.
\nDuring last three years, The Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (ESED) has successfully established about 105 new schools in KP. All of these schools arefully resourced and functioning according to the data available at ESED.
\nIn 2013, the Department started operationalizing schools which were not functioning while some of which were constructed back in 1980s. In last three years, the Department operationalized 539 primary schools, 386 primary to middle, 385 middle to higher, 207 higher to higher schools in addition to the conversion of 112 mosque schools to primary schools.
\nAdditionally, international partners were also facilitated in schools construction which resulted in additional establishment of 115 non-ADP schools in KP. Altogether, the current government has sanctioned 1748 schools where the work started in 2013 and following years. With addition of 1748, thousands of students will be benefitted.
\nIn addition to the schools construction, provision of basic and missing facilities has been one of ESED priorities. During last three years, ESED has constructed more than 12,000 additional class rooms, more than 13,600 boundary walls, more than 16,000 Group Latrines in addition to the completion of more than9800 Schools electrification projects.
\nThese initiatives have improved parents confidence on government reforms and as a result students enrollment increased and students drop-out has significantly decreased. More than 34,000 migrated from private to Government schools in 2016 because of the improvements in the public sector schools in the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
