KHYBER AGENCY: More than half dozen tribal neonates of Khyber born at time of independence were named \u201cPakistan\u201d soon after the creation of the country that showed emotional attachment of tribesmen with their motherland.
\nGreat jubilation was exhibited across the tribal belt at the time when Pakistan came into being and the tribal unanimously and unconditionally extended their loyalty towards the newly created state, tribesmen remarked.
\nHaji Pakistan s\/o Muhammada Gul,Piro Khel, 79,a businessman while quoting his parent said that he born on the day when Muslims of the sub-Continent got their separate homeland and his father in delight named him after the newly Muslim country, Pakistan.
\nRegarding impact of the name he further said that he was overconfident to be named after the name of the country as it granted a distinctive status in society. I am warmly and regularly celebrate my birthday on the same day when the entire nation of Pakistan observe Independence Day and I thanked my parent for naming me after my beloved country,Paksitan,Haji Pakistan remarked.
\nRecalling his memories 78 years old Khushal Mir of Khuga Khel said that in October, 1946 the local tribal disgraced Pandit Jawahir Lal Nehru on his visit to the area practically supported Pakistan cause.
\nHe further said that large numbers of tribal elders gathered on Landikotal-Torkham road near butcher house and pelted bones and stones at the Nehru who was on his visit to Torkham border flanked by local Congress leaders.
\nAt that time the British administration of Landikotal carried out aerial firing to disperse the protesters that injured three tribesmen including a respectable elders said Minhajuddin Bacha, he added.
\nWe were studying in government high school, Topkhana (artillery) when Pakistan came into being and we, the school students marched in Landikotal bazaar while holding the national flag to commemorate the independence, Mir said.
\nHe claimed that the tribesmen of Khyber were pioneered of the partition movement who practically rejected the join India policy by dishonoring Nehru on his trip to the area.
