LAHORE, April 01 (Online): Shahzad Akbar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on interior and accountability has said work is under way on fast track basis on investigations into sugar scandal as all the material has been provided to NAB and we are not ready to give NRO to any one.

Investigation into sugar scandal is underway on fast track basis. Sugar scandal is not new in Pakistan. This has been done in Pakistan earlier as well. Not only sugar mills but market forces too influence the prices. Market force is involved in profiteering, he added.
He went on to say the brokers do all the work on whats app rather than on sugar mafia. Forenisc audit of evidence has made many discloses. We came to know the procedure from the audit of the evidence. 8 to 10 big players determine the prices of the sugar . We all are held hostage by these 10 people. Action is must against them. The brokers had already decided what would be the rate of China in the month of April.
He went on to say the sugar mafia was going to enhance the rate of sugar in the holy month of Ramadan. Material has been provided to FIA and NAB. Action is being taken against the illegal market forces. The court declared the proceedings related to the commission in order. FIA have registered over 12 cases against the gamblers.
He held 60 percent production of sugar goes to the industries and 40 percent to consumers. Pretexts are made that it is difficult to fix Ex mill rate. It is must that the federation and provinces should work in unison here. Government is endeavoring to contain the prices of sugar during the holy month of Ramadan.
Information was received that the brokers were going to enhance sugar prices tremendously during the holy month of Ramada, he said. All the cases related to sugar subsidy have been handed over to NAB. Legislation has been enacted against artificial shortage and hike in prices in Punjab.
