ISLAMABAD
Islamabad police have arrested 12 accused including a gang of street criminals from different areas of the city, a police spokesperson said on Saturday.
He said that IGP Islamabad Ahsan Younas had issued special orders for prevention of crime and arrest of criminal elements and recovery of stolen property.
Following these directions, a CIA police team comprising ASI Mohsin Ali and other officials arrested three members of a snatcher gang known as codo gang.
This gang was involved in snatching motorcycles, mobile phones and cash at gunpoint in various areas of Sabzi Mandi police Station. Police team has also recovered mobile phones and weapons used in the incidents.
Arrested accused were identified as Azher alais codo,Shaban Shokat and Azher alais Qari alais mama. Separate cases have been registered against the accused in Sabzi Mandi police station and investigation is underway.
Furthermore, Bhara kahu police during snap-checking arrested an accused namely Muneeb Abbasi and recovered 30 bore pistol with ammunition.
Tarnol police arrested two accused identified as Sami Ullah and Bilal Ali Khan and recovered two pistols with ammunition. Golra police during checking arrested a drug peddler namely Saif Ullah and recovered 210 gram hashish from his possession.
Likewise, Shalimar police team on a tip-off arrested two drug pushers namely Hamza Nawaz and Asar nawaz and recovered 25 bottles of wine and 2760 gram hashish.
Similarly, Sihala, Industrial Area and Sabzi Mandi police arrested 03 accused identified as Malik Junaid Ahmad, Malik Amaan and Ishaq and recovered one 12 bore gun, 495 gram hashish and one 30 bore pistol respectively.
Cases against all the arrested accused have been registered and further investigation is underway.
IGP Islamabad Ahsan Younas has said that Islamabad police is taking all out efforts to curb the crime in the city and to protect the life and property of the citizens.
