At least 18 people, including men, women and children, were injured after lightning struck a house in the remote Bazaar Zakhakhel area of Landikotal in Khyber district, police sources said on Wednesday.
According to police, the lightning hit the house of a local resident identified as Khan Afridi in the Inai Chakarkhel locality, causing panic and injuring several members of the family and nearby residents.
Soon after the incident, local residents and rescue teams shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, where they were provided medical treatment. Hospital sources said all injured persons were later discharged after receiving first aid and necessary care.
Following the incident, SHO Bazaar Zakhakhel police station Haji Afridi, accompanied by police personnel, visited the affected house to assess the situation and inquire about the health of the injured.
Residents of the area said such incidents increase during seasonal storms and urged authorities to improve emergency response facilities in remote regions of the district.
