A 19-years-old, Muhammad Saad, a dancer by profession was killed today in Swabi. His younger brother of 13/14 years age Muhammad Hammad quarrelled with him as he did not like his elder brother’s cultural activities. During the fight, younger brother Hammad fired with his pistol on his elder brother Saad (dancer by profession) who died on the spot. Police has registered case against the accused brother and strenuous efforts are underway to arrest him.
A special team has been constituted under the chairmanship of SP Investigation Mr. Banaras Khan to sort out the case ASAP beside bringing the accused before the court. DPO Swabi Mr. Imran Shahid is personally monitoring the investigation of the case. Post-mortem was carried out in Bacha Khan Medical Complex Swabi. Funeral of the deceased young man was offered in his native village Shalkhi Banda (Swabi) after post-mortem.
It is pertinent to clarify here that the deceased Saad did not become a victim of religious extremism or a hate crime against transgender as he was a male dancer.
