2,032 candidates elected unopposed in KP

As many as 2032 contestants have been elected unopposed in the local bodies elections held on Sunday in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) around 217 candidates on general seats, 876 on women seats and 285 on farmers seats have been declared successful and elected unopposed.
Additionally, 500 youth candidates and 154 minority seats were also declared successful unopposed.
In KP local body elections, 676 candidates were contested elections for 65 seats of city mayorship and tehsil chairmanship.
The detailed shared by the ECP said that Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI-F) has fielded 59 candidates, Awami National Party (ANP) awarded tickets to 55 candidates.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) chosen 51 candidates for LG polls while Jamat-e-Islami (JI) has fielded 47 candidates.
Pakistan People Party (PPP) contested with 43, 14 candidates. Qaumi Wattan Party (QWP) has fielded total 305 candidates.
145 candidates elected unopposed in 62 women’s seats from Peshawar. 51 candidates were elected unopposed for 12 women seats in general seats from Nowshera while nine candidates elected unopposed from Charsadda for general seats.
Similarly, 51 candidates of district Khyber were elected unopposed for 24 women seats in general seats. From Mohmand district, women candidates from 15 seats, one candidate from youth seats and five candidates from youth seats were elected unopposed. Around 99 candidates were elected unopposed for nine women seats in general seats in Mardan while 40 women candidates from Swabi have been elected unopposed in 18 general seats, 84 women’s seats and 84 farmers’ seats.
Ten candidates elected unopposed in 8 youth seats, 23 youth seats in farmers’ seats in Karrak, additionally 16 candidates of Hangu were elected unopposed in the general seat, 14 in the women’s seat and 24 in the farmers’ seat.
Five candidates in Bannu have been elected unopposed for the general seats, 3 women seats, 22 farmers seats and 5 candidates. In district Haripur, four candidates were elected unopposed in 50 minority seats.
Moreover, 53 candidates from DI Khan elected unopposed for 12 women seats. Similarly, around 26 candidates from Tank were elected unopposed for 18 women seats.
