RAWALPINDI: As many as 31 candidates are contesting for general elections from PP-15 Rawalpindi IX Constituency, including 22 independents. Major party ticket holders include Malik Mansoor Afsar PML-N, Inam ul Haq PPPP, Rizwan Ahmad JI, Muhammad Adeel TLP, Muhammad Qasim JUI and Hamid Nawaz Raja IPP, Muhammad Basharat Raja, Malik Iftekhar, Ziad Khalique Kayani are also in the run as independent candidates. 191 polling stations have been established in PP-15 Rawalpindi IX constituency where 269,423 voters including 137,172 male and 132,241 female will use their right to vote. According to the polling scheme issued by the district election commission, there are 95 polling stations each for male and female voters. Under the scheme of PP-15, there are 191 presiding officers, 958 assistant presiding officers and 670 allied polling staff members to facilitate the voters with a total of 479 polling booths in the constituency. According to details, the district administration is finalizing all the arrangements including security to ensure fair and transparent general elections, scheduled to be held on Feb 8. The administration on the special directives of the Punjab government had finalized the comprehensive plan for polling day. Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Hassan Waqar Cheema has instructed the administration officers for strict monitoring of code of conduct issued by ECP in letter and spirit. DNA
