342 kilograms of hashish recovered in Abbottabad; one accused held

Peshawar: Under the zero-tolerance policy of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government against narcotics and on the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has carried out two major anti-drug operations in Abbottabad and District Khyber, resulting in the recovery of a large quantity of narcotics. According to details, a joint operation conducted by the Excise Intelligence Bureau and Excise Police Station Abbottabad in District Abbottabad led to the recovery of 342 kilograms of hashish. During the operation, one accused was arrested and the vehicle being used for smuggling was also taken into custody. In another operation carried out in District Khyber by the Excise Police Station Khyber and Excise Intelligence Bureau, 150 kilograms of hashish were recovered.A Suzuki vehicle used for smuggling was seized and one accused was arrested. Both operations were conducted under the supervision of Provincial In-charge, Bureau of Excise Intelligence, Saud Khan Gandapur, and Majid Khan, Excise and Taxation Officer (Anti-Narcotics Control), with the participation of the SHO, Excise Police Station Abbottabad, SHO, Excise Police Station Khyber and their respective teams. Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan, has issued clear directions to ensure strict implementation of the zero-tolerance policy against drug smuggling and sale across the province. He stated that strict and indiscriminate action will continue against all those involved in the narcotics trade, as it is imperative to protect society and the younger generation from this menace. The Minister further said that operations against drug dealers, smugglers, suppliers and all individuals involved in the illegal narcotics business will continue under the zero-tolerance policy and all available resources will be utilized to eliminate drugs from the province.
He reaffirmed that every possible step will be taken to safeguard public life and property and to secure a safer future for the youth.
