4 terror suspects arrested in Charsadda

CHARSADDA/KOHAT: Police here on Friday arrested four suspected terrorists and claimed to have foiled a terrorism bid.
District police officer Sohail Khalid told media persons in a briefing that they had also recovered police uniform, three suicide jackets, rocket launchers, grenades and other explosive material following a tip provided by a suspect.
He said that they arrested a resident of Badi Korona who during interrogation told the police about his other accomplices. He said that in the light of information provided by the suspect, Naveed, the police also arrested Ihteshamullah, Naveedullah and Saqib Khan and recovered arms and explosives, including suicide jackets, from Parang cemetery.
The DPO said that the suspects belonged to the banned TTP`s Fazlullah group and had carried out attacks, including targeted killings and bomb blasts in the past.
In Kohat, the security forces and police seized a big quantity of weapons on Friday.
The army and cantonment police contingents raided the Afghan refugee camp in Ublan and during search of the houses recovered three small machineguns, two hand grenades, three pistols and 14 chargers.
In another case, the Ustarzai police stopped a pick-up van (M-8594) roaming the Kohat-Orakzai Agency border and seized 24 repeaters from it. Arshad Iqbal of Sarozai, Hangu, was arrested on the spot. DPO Javed Iqbal told a press conference that the deadline of Jan 31 set for the voluntary surrender of weapons had expired and now illegal weapons would be collected in house-to-house search.
He said that under the National Action Plan it was mandatory for the citizens to surrender all illegal weapons.
