Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority on Friday seized more than 50 kg unhygienic and sick chicken in an operation in Abbottabad’s Gol Mandi area.
The authority during the course of action sealed the shops over selling substandard meat of chickens.
As per details, the operation was conducted on the direction of director general of KP Food Safety Authority Shahrukh Ali Khan.
The team also inspected various poultry shops and implementation of SOPs was reviewed.
During the inspection, spoiled chicken meat and chicken meat were found in several poultry shops. Unhealthy meat recovered during the operation was destroyed.
For violation of SOPs and export of spoiled meat, a heavy fine was imposed on the concerned shopkeepers, while stricter action will be taken as per law.
Various food- related businesses were inspected during the inspection at Norang Bazar Lucky Marwat.
Milk testing was done from several milk shops through a mobile food testing lab.
Fines were imposed on three shopkeepers for mixing water in milk.
Separately, during the operation in Bannu, general stores, milk shops, and bakers were checked. A bakery production unit was fined for extremely poor sanitation.
A spice factory was also fined for poor sanitation. Along with this, approval notices and license notices were issued.
