82 IT-Labs set up in govt-run schools in KP

An important meeting held here on Wednesday with the provincial education minister Shahram Khan Tarkai in the chair, reviewed progress so far made on the digital literacy project. The project was launched by the elementary and secondary education department to establish Information Technology-Labs at the government schools of the province.
The meeting was attended by the officials of the planning sections, director education and secretary education department.
The planning cell officials on the occasion informed the forum regarding the installation of IT-Lab facility under the digital literacy project at the public sector schools across KP. The meeting was informed by the officials concerned that so far 82 IT-labs have been made fully functional in various districts while work on 269 underway and will be completed by the end of the ongoing financial year.
Provincial education minister Shahram Khan Tarkai said that society could not be developed with the intervention of technology intervention in the education system, adding the provincial government was focused to equip school children of the government sector with modern IT skills as much as possible.
“Digital literacy project of the education department is also providing support in promoting information technology among children,” the forum informed.
It has been the policy of the provincial government in KP to promote information technology as much as possible, the education minister claimed and added that all available renounces would be allocated in future to promote technology based learning in public sector schools.
