Caretaker Minister says govt would spend Rs19.77bn on relief package
PESHAWAR
In order to provide maximum relief to inflation-hit poverty stricken people, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to start distribution of free wheat flour for 92 per cent population of the province during the holy month of Ramadan.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday Caretaker Minister for Food and Irrigation Fazl Elahi said “under the Ramadan relief package, free flour wheat will be distributed to maximum families of the province”.
He said that the provincial government has allocated Rs19.77 billion for the relief package.
Despite the financial difficulties of the province, according to the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government has decided to provide relief to poor section of the society, he added and shared that 10.72 million people of the province would get 10kg bag of the commodity in Ramadan.
While giving details to the media during a press briefing in the department concerned, caretaker Minister for Information and Public Relations Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel and Secretary Food Abid Wazir were also present.
On this occasion, Abid Wazir told reporters as many as 7,600 sales points will be established in the province for the Ramadan relief package, of which 6,000 will be established by the Food Department and the district administration. While 1600 sale points will be set up under the supervision of Utility Stores Corporation , Abid Wazir said and furthered that according to the Ramadan package, three bags of ten kilograms will be provided per family.
