LAHORE : 50 fatalities have been reported due to corona virus in single day in Pakistan while 1979 persons have tested positive.
as the number of positive cases has surged to 253,604. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 5,320, Dunya News reported on Tuesday.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) fatalities toll has climbed to 5320 while positive cases have soared to 253604.
Sindh has become the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
Till now 106,622 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 87,492 in Punjab, 30,747 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,192 in Balochistan, 14,202 in Islamabad, 1,694 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,655 in Azad Kashmir.
Furthermore 2,026 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 1,826 in Sindh, 1,106 in KP, 126 in Balochistan, 155 in Islamabad, 36 in GB and 45 in Azad Kashmir.
Patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.
As per reports 1,606,190 coronavirus tests have been conducted while 21,020 have been carried out in last 24 hours. 170,656 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 2,151 patients are in critical condition.
Number of recoveries has surpassed the number of active cases as 161917 infected persons have recovered from the virus.;
Overall active cases stand at 84442 in the country and testing potential has exceeded 60000 per day. 132 laboratories are functioning in the country while 1525 ventilators have been allocated for the patients.
In 30 cities trace, test and quarantine mechanism is working satisfactorily. First case of corona virus was registered in Pakistan on February 26 and about 1000 deaths had occurred till May 21 due to this virus.
Ministry of health has said the corona virus cases pace was slow in in the beginning and now an acceleration is being witnessed in confirmed cases.
