IHC orders to decide Cynthia Ritchie petition seeking registration of case against Rehman Malik within 3 weeks

ISLAMABAD : Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed to decide the petition filed by US Blogger Cynthia D Ritchie seeking registration of case PPP leader Rehman Malik within 3 weeks.

The court has also set aside the decision on rejecting Cynthia D petition regarding registration of case against Rehman Malik.

IHC bench led by Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah took up the case for hearing Wednesday.

In its 6-page order, the court accepted the petition against the decision on rejection of Cynthia D Ritchie application seeking registration of case against Rehman Malik.

The court remarked sessions court had rejected Cynthia D Ritchie application regarding registration of case against Rehman Malik on August 05. Sessions court overstepped its powers in its August 5 decision. The court while passing order did not take into account the law and Supreme court decisions. The decision regarding rejection of Cynthia Ritchie application seeking registration of case is annulled. The application of Cynthia Ritchie regarding registration of case against Rehman Malik be considered pending.

The court directed sessions judge to refer Cynthia Ritchie petition to Justice of Peace for hearing. The case should not be sent to the judge again who had announced decision on August 05.

The decision on the application in connection with registration of case be given within 3 weeks after hearing the respondents, the court ordered.
