624218 motorists fined Rs120 million for violating traffic rules in Peshawar

The Peshawar Traffic Police have been striving hard to make the roads safe through different modes of operations, and its personnel have fined 624218vehicles a total of Rs120.6 million in last six months, said a report issued by traffic police.
Chief Traffic Officer Abbas Majeed Marwat has said that all its capabilities are being utilized to ensure enforcement of traffic law.
He said that awareness campaigns are also underway across the city to ensure compliance with traffic laws, adding that under IT reforms, FM radio has been fully activated to inform citizen about the traffic system and keep them update during traffic jam for using alternative routes.
A computerized duty roster has also been activated through which traffic officers at the points are changed every month and they are regularly informed through messages he informed.
Abbas explained that cameras in the vehicles of traffic officers have been installed under e-patrolling system in which regular recording activities.
The department has activated all the social media websites through which the citizens are informed about the traffic system every fifteen minutes he added.
Regular live broadcasts on YouTube have been launched to educate the citizens about traffic rules, traffic system facilities and traffic flow on the roads. City Traffic Police is using all its capabilities to solve traffic problems and digitize Peshawar. IT reforms are being further improved under the direction of IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) he added.
