PESHAWAR: Civil society, lawyer community and people from across section of society staged a demonstration outside the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday to press the provincial government to take pragmatic steps to control all kind of violence against women in the society. The demonstration was organized by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chapter. The protesters urge the government to take effective measures to curb violence against women and condemns the inhumane killing of a Sri Lankan citizen. They demanded that the government take concrete steps against religious extremism. The participants carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans demanding justice for Sri Lankan citizens.
