Barikot to get state of art Table Tennis Academy

Deputy Commissioner Swat Junaid Khan said that like other districts of the province, Swat also has a lot of talent which the sports department is taking practical steps to bring to the fore.
To this end, a state-of-the-art indoor table tennis academy will be set up in Barikot, where children from Barikot and adjoining areas will be trained.
Work on PC-1 will be started soon to make this project a reality. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation comprising of table tennis coaches Mian Absar Ali and Yasir Aziz at his office here yesterday.
Senior Sports Journalist Ghani-ur-Rehman was also present on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner Swat Junaid Khan said that there is no doubt that our young generation is talented.
In different eras he has given a better recognition to Pakistan at the international level which is less than appreciated. There is an urgent need to encourage.
He said that to further promote table tennis in Swat in collaboration with the Sports Department and the district administration, it was announced to set up a state-of-the-art indoor academy at Barikot at a cost of over one crore rupees.
He appreciated the efforts of coach Mian Absar Ali for the promotion of table tennis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said that coaches like him are very much needed in the sports directorate.
The participants of the delegation, coaches Absar Ali, Yasir Aziz, Ghani-ur-Rehman and Azmatullah, appreciated the steps taken by Junaid Khan as DG Sports to develop sports in Swat and the whole of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and to inspire the players to move forward.
The delegation told Deputy Commissioner Swat that District Sports Officer Kashif Farhan is also working with a passion for the promotion of sports in Swat district, which is why Swat’s position in the provincial U-21 games is significant.
