The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police in its latest report revealed that the incidents of terrorism and other crimes have decreased in the year 2021 as compared to 2020.
A briefing was held on Monday at the Central Police Office, Peshawar, in which Inspector General of Police (IGP) KP Moazzam Jah Ansari briefed on annual report regarding the crimes committed in the province during the current year.
This year has been termed satisfactory in terms of crime prevention and law and order situation in the province.
According to the report, 559 terrorists have been arrested and 110 were killed in police encounters during the current years.
During the course of duty this year, 48 police personnel were martyred while 44 personnel sustained injuries.
Police carried out around 19220 search and strike operations in KP and held around 111057 persons, 24339 weapons and 637636 cartridges were recovered in the operations.
In various snap checking, police during 2021 conducted more than 77324 and apprehended as many as 92081 suspects.
Police department’s Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs) across the province resolved 2885 public disputes amicably among the citizen.
Similarly, through Police Assistance Lines service provided relief to around 125056 applicants in KP.
5145 public complaints were resolved through IGP helpline the report added.
During the current years, more than Rs 413 million was disbursed in various aspects of police welfare and 18578 police personnel were equipped with professional training.
Ababel Squad equipped with modern weapons and communication equipment was launched to eradicate street crimes in the provincial capital.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested 599 terrorists during the year, thwarting various terrorist operations in a timely manner, with several terrorists being beheaded.
During various CTD operations this year, 2397.91 kg of explosives, 206 hand grenades, five suicide jackets, seven RPGs, 31076 detonators and 37 SMGs were recovered.
This year, the KP police also made significant strides in the field of narcotics and successfully cracked down on professional drug dealers through Narcotics Eradication Teams (NETs).
Report shared that 899,743 kg of ice and 9549 bottles of liquor were also recovered.
Similarly, illegal arms were recovered from 2223 rifles, 6744 shotguns, 41823 pistols, 1960899 rounds of ammunition, 3205 Kalashnikovs, 535 Kalakovs, 208 hand grenades.
It is worth mentioning here that this year the police played a key role in implementing Coronavirus SOPs.
The police also made significant role in providing security for the local body elections.
In addition to promoting proactive policing, the community was mobilized to address public grievances the report added.
