The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority (KPFSA) on Saturday foiled an attempt to supply more than 1,000kg dead chicken in the provincial capital. The team found that dead chicken was slaughtered in a shop in a notable market of chicken in Bacha Khan Chowk Peshawar.
The dead chickens were slaughtered in the shop and were being prepared for supply in the market. According to Director General (DG) KPFSA Shah Rukh Ali Khan, crackdown has been intensified on the directives of Food Minister Atif Khan to ensure quality of food items in the province.
The Food Safety Authority, acting in a timely manner, arrested a man and sealed off the shop. The dead chickens recovered during the operation were confiscated and destroyed.
The DG Food Safety Authority commended the officials concerned for taking timely action and recovering the dead chickens. He said that the officials of the authority were constantly working to ensure the supply of food items to the citizens in accordance with the standards of hygiene.
DG Shah Rukh said that the operations against the adulteration mafia have been intensified across the province, adding that people should also support the authority and register their complaints against the elements dealing in adulteration and substandard and unhealthy food items on our toll free number.
