ISLAMABAD
Government of Pakistan has delayed return of current Pakistan envoy in Washington to Islamabad as named diplomat Sardar Masood Khan’ agrément has not been issued by Washington yet.
An agrément, in diplomatic parlance, is an agreement between states to receive and facilitate members of a diplomatic mission.
According to details, US government was expected to release Masood Khan’s agrément in second week of January.
Government has directed incumbent diplomat Asad Majeed Khan to stay in Washington and continue his job for one more month.
Asad Majeed Khan’s three year services as Pakistan’s envoy to United States came to an end January 11 this year.
Government had approved the name of Sardar Masood Khan, a known diplomat and former president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to be Pakistan’s next chief diplomat in Washington.
Sources have revealed that Masood’s agrément is expected to be issued in mid-February now as the designated US envoy to Pakistan would reach Pakistan in the mid-February.
