PESHAWAR
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday barred Shehryar Afridi, MNA and Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, from visiting district Kurram on 26th and 27th January.
According to the letter written by the district Election Commissioner Kurram at Parachinar, the MNA Shehryar Afridi has been asked not to visit Kurram ahead of the scheduled second round of local body elections in the province on March 27.
“It has come to the notice of the undersigned through reliable sources that Mr. Shehryar Afridi, MNA/ Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir ( with the status of Federal Minister) intend to visit District Kurram on 26th 27th January,2022 to attend worker convention and meetings,” the letter said.
Moreover, the ECP has decided to issue a show cause notice of Federal Minister Pevez Khattak for violating the code of conduct issued for the 2nd round of LG polls in KP.
A source in the ECP has said that the Federal Minister had visited the district Dir and addressed a workers convention in connection with LG body polls.
He said that ECP has directed the concerned district administration to issue a show-cause notice to MNA Pervez Khattak as his visit was a clear violation of election code of conduct.
