Four schools shut in Peshawar due to Covid positive cases

The district administration has closed down four government high and higher secondary schools in the provincial capital for one week on Tuesday after the increase in the number of positive coronavirus cases.
According to a notification issued by the deputy commissioner that after the recommendation of District Health Officer, Peshawar government high schools, Hazar Khwani, Hira International high schools, Shero Jhangi, Charsadda Road, government higher secondary school, Chagar Matti, Pajjagi, and government high secondary schools, Budhni have been closed down for five days.
The schools have been closed after a number of students and teaching staff have been tested positive for the virus.
The district administration has also directed the authority concerned to ensure that all those who have been tested positive in the schools properly quarantined in their homes.
Moreover, the DHO has been asked to conduct a periodical medical assistance on the aforementioned localities and during the reopening of the schools only those would be allowed who have fully vaccinated.
It is pertinent to mention here that Shahram Tarakai, Minister for elementary and secondary education, KP has ruled out the possibility of schools closing.
Chairing a meeting of the education department officials here on Tuesday he has said the education system in the province would remain open and vaccination drives would be intensified in government schools to cope with coronavirus infectivity.
