The Provincial Inspection Team (PIT) has started an inquiry to dig out the causes of a bridge that collapsed a few days ago on Swabi Mardan double road.
The Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had taken notice of the Gohati bridge collapse incident and tasked PIT for a transparent inquiry.
Following the CM-KP orders, sources claimed that scrutiny of records pertaining to the Swabi Mardan double road project has been launched.
In this connection, the project director of Swabi Mardan Road Project has been asked to present all concerned records before the PIT team.
PIT team, in a letter sent to the project director, instructed for availability of records with immediate effect.
It is worth mentioning here that the KP government has taken nearly 75 million dollars in loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the construction of the Swabi Mardan 42km double road project.
However, according to the project officials, the construction cost of the project is Rs 7.5 billion.
According to sources, the Swabi Mardan Double Road project was initiated in October 2019 and the project was to be completed in April 2021.
However, the project suffered delay due to inaction of the authority concerned to raze forest trees coming in the way of the project. Additionally, the project authority also failed to remove Sui-Gas connection pipes, electricity poles, and telephone wires for the smooth construction of the Swabi-Mardan Road.
The project now will be completed by December 2022, said the sources.
Chief Minister KP had directed the provincial inspection team to probe into the project and submit its report within 15 days.
