PESHAWAR
The Media Winter Sports Festival concludes with a grand ceremony in which more than 250 male and female journalists participated in eight different games – seven for male journalists and two for female journalists here at Qayyum Sports Complex on Sunday.
President Peshawar Press Club M. Riaz, Senior Journalists Amjad Aziz Malik, Faridullah Khan, Shamim Shahid, Vice President Khyber Union of Journalist Baseer Qalander, Secretary Press Club Shehzada Fahad, and President Sports Writers Association Asim Sheraz distributed prizes among the position holders male and female journalists.
The Media Winter Sports Festival was organized by Peshawar Press Club, Khyber Union of Journalist and Sports Writers Association with the support of Directorate of Youth, Directorate General Sports and District Government wherein the male journalists participated in seven Games including Athletics, Archery, Woodball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tug of War and TeQ Ball and female journalists took part in Woodball and Archery.
Nadir Khawjah clinched the trophy of Table Tennis after defeating Zeeshan Liaqat by 2-1, the score was 7-11, 11-8 and 11-9. Zeeshan Liaqat defeated Bilal Afridi in the semi-final while Nadir Khawjah recorded victory against Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah in the second semi-finals.
Bilal also beat Niaz Ali and Zeeshan beat Kamran and Ihtisham Ali.
In the badminton event Ali Sheikh defeated Qais Khalil in the final and won the trophy, in the Wood Ball Anila Shaheen got the title after defeating Mehwish in the final and Shaista Taleem got third position. In the Men 400 Shahid Khan Afridi took first position, followed by Shahzada Fahad and Shehzad Rasheed took third position.
In the Tug of War competition, SWA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the title after defeating Peshawar Press Club team in the final by 2-1. Malik Qaiser got first in TeQ Ball against Nasir Ali Shah who got second position and Usman Danish took third position. In the Women Archery event Shaista got first position, followed by Nasreen Jabeen and Hira got third position.
In the Men archery Muhammad Fahim got first position by scoring 30 points, followed by Rasool Dawar with 19 points and Gul Hayan secured 18 points and remained at third. At the end, the guest present on this occasion gave away trophies, gifts and other prizes to the position holders.
