ISLAMABAD
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Wednesday that world must oversee that India is depriving Muslim students of their educational rights in the name of Hijab.
In a statement on Wednesday, the foreign minister said that Pakistan has been continuously diverting world’s attention towards gross human rights’ violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). However, Indian Hindu-nationalist government’s ‘unjust policies’ were not just confined to IIOJK now, he said, adding that minorities in India were in serious trouble.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan has conveyed his reservations about Islamophobia multiple times” he said. “Our apprehensions are turning true today” he maintained.
Referring to recent incident of girl showing resistance in front of Hindu extremists in India’s Karnatak, the foreign minister said that BJP’s Hindu nationalist government was treating minorities in oragious way. “World can see today that Muslim girls have been deprived of their educational rights in the name of Hijab in India” he added. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that India called itself secular state but was barring minorities from practicing their religions. “India is a country with billions of Muslims. Muslims have a separate identity and traditional heritage. Karnatak’s incident is a precedent for Indian Muslims to fight for their rights” he added.
