PPC lauds amendments to journalist’s welfare funds rules

The president of Peshawar Press Club (PPC) and journalist community on Tuesday appreciated the provincial government for its amendments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Journalists Welfare Endowment Funds Rules.
The provincial cabinet headed by Chief Minister K P Mahmood Khan has approved amendments to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Journalists Welfare Endowment Fund Rules 2021.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Journalists Welfare Endowment Fund was valued at Rs 6.40 millions, however its value went up.
After the amendments Rs 1 million will be given to the family of the journalist who was martyred in the terrorist incidents.
A journalist who is completely disabled for any reason will be given a one time financial assistance up to Rs 200,000.
A journalist who has reached the age of 60 years and has done journalism for 30 years will be given a stipend of up to a maximum of Rs 10,000 per month.
In addition, a journalist who is fired from a newspaper or TV and remains unemployed for three months will be paid Rs 10,000 once a month for a period of 2 months.
In addition, in case of death of a journalist or a member of his family, Rs 50,000 will be paid as funeral expenses.
Peshawar Press Club President M Riaz and General Secretary Shehzada Fahad welcomed the amendments in the Journalists Welfare Endowment Fund Rules and thanked the Chief Minister Mahmood Khan for his efforts to ensure the welfare of journalists across the province.
