Supreme Court (SC) has allowed NAB to file additional documents in NAB inquiry case against the business personality Mian Mansha and other accused. NAB appeal pleas against Lahore High Court (LHC) orders regarding suspension of NAB inquiry against Mian Mansha and others came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial Thursday.
Additional prosecutor NAB told the court NAB started inquiry against Mian Mansha under SC orders. Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered to stop inquiry on the petition filed by Mian Mansha.
CJP Umar Ata Bandial while addressing Additional Prosecutor NAB remarked “ you are saying court’s orders have tied the hands of NAB. Government made amendment in NAB laws for the protection of economy. The investment should be encouraged in the country. If there is solid evidence then such matters should be probed into.
Counsel for Mian Mansha filed the application seeking adjournment. The court deferred the hearing of adjournment plea from the counsel Khalid Anwar of Mian Mansha till March 15, 2022 besides allowing NAB to file additional documents.
It may be mentioned that NAB had launched inquiry against Mian Mansha for purchasing property in London through money laundering. Lahore High Court had suspended NAB inquiry against Mian Mansha. NAB had resorted to SC against Lahore High Court decision on halting NAB inquiry against Mian Mansha and others.
