FSC adjourns hearing of petitions against Usury system till April 1

ISLAMABAD: Federal Shariat Court (FSC) has adjourned the hearing till April 01, 2022 the petitions against interest based system. A 3-member bench of FSC presided over by Chief Justice (CJ) Noor Muhammad Meskanzai took up the petitions for hearing Tuesday. Attorney General (AG) Khalid Javed appeared in the court during the hearing of the case. CJ FSC while addressing the AG Khalid Javed remarked reviewing the interest related law is our constitutional obligation too besides our powers. He remarked we have this way before us too that we should accept the plea of the petitioner. Second way before us is this we should identify only drawbacks according to you. The third way is this we should review as per constitution that law is shariah law or other wise. Attorney General while addressing the court took the plea in the event of third way your decision will adopt the form of only literary debate. In the event of second way your opinion can become implemented gradually. The court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 01, 2022. Online
