Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Peshawar Monday celebrated international women’s day Celebrations and spring festival here.
AIG KP Ayesha Gul graced the occasion as Chief Guest while many whereas Regional Head National Bank of Pakistan, Islamic Banking Group Peshawar KP Saima Rahim and MPA Rabia Basri were Guest of Honor on the occasion.
Different female guests in leading roles were also invited from different sectors including medical field, entrepreneurs, armed forces, social sector, politics and civil bureaucracy.
Vice Chancellor SBBWU Razia Sultana welcomed the guests and said that every year in March the university coordinates observances of international women’s month at the campus and arranges festivals, arranges awareness walks, debate competitions, talent hunt shows, painting competitions and other programmes.
The VC said that by arranging such events we want to empower our women and encourage women to achieve their goals, adding that it shows the commitment of the University for always playing a role as a key contributor towards countless activities in KP and Pakistan for promoting women as leaders and influential forces of our society.
The VC also said that soon they are going to modify their educational model and add up some skilled based education which will help the girls of SBBWU to excel in today’s world.
The VC also discussed about various skilled based education projects they have launched and around 3,640 students graduated from those various program and also highlighted the opportunities and internship they provide to their students.
The Chief Guest AIG KP, Ayesha Gul said that she was happy to see the women of SBBWU that how talented and she thinks that they are the future of Pakistan.
She shared her inspirational story with the young students of SBBWU, and told them how she became AIG. She also discussed the hardships she faced and how women can play a crucial role in the police sector.
The AIG KP also said that they are going to announce the vacancies in the police department and encourage all the young girls to apply for it as well.
At the end, the chief guest also appreciated the VC for providing the young girls of KP such a platform where they will excel and become a part of country’s development.
The University signed 7 MoUs with different organizations including Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, Department of Archaeology and Museums, Association for Bio Risk Management Pakistan, Chairman, Pakistan Development Foundation, University of Peshawar, Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital Research Center Peshawar, Precision Medicine Lab and Rehman Medical Institute.
