City Traffic Police Peshawar, while conducting operations against encroachment mafia, arrested 377 persons and imposed fines on them.
According to details, on the direction of Chief Traffic Officer Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat, City Traffic Police Peshawar last week issued notices to the mafia to voluntarily stop encroachments in different areas of the city.
He apprised them of the difficulties and directed them to voluntarily end the encroachments or else strict legal action would be taken against them.
However, the encroachments were not being carried out by the mafia.
While conducting operations in the sectors, 377 people were arrested last week and fined.
Abbas Majeed Khan Marwat said that City Traffic Police Peshawar, fulfilling legal requirements, first issues notices to the encroachment mafia, after which the perpetrators of the operation were arrested and the goods were seized at the terminal.
He said that the encroaching mafia should not exceed its limits keeping in view the beauty of the city and should avoid creating any kind of trouble for the citizens.
He said that encroachments affect the beauty of the city which is not acceptable in any case.
Chief Traffic Officer further said that strict legal action would be taken against the perpetrators of trespassing and no leniency would be shown to anyone.
