Muhammad Israr of Rawalpindi clinched the trophy and cash prize after winning the 17-km long marathon race part of the ongoing Chinar Sports and Culture Festival being organized by district administration and Regional Sports Officer Abbottabad on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Tariq Salam Marwat was the chief guest on this occasion who formally flagged off the Marathon Race and Cycle Race. Manager Bank of Khyber Miss Sumaira Javed, Regional Sports Officer, President Syed Azhar Ali Shah, Secretary Nisar Ahmed, Chairman Zakat Abbottabad Tariq Mehmood, and Deputy Director Sports Azizullah Jan were also present during the distributed ceremonies.
Muhammad Israr crossed the distance in 40minute and won gold medal, while Muhammad Imran of Abbottabad Sheikhalbandi crossed the finish line in 43 minutes and won the silver medal and cash award. Fida Khan of Mardan won third position and bronze medal after crossing a distance of 17-km in 44 minutes, Zulkarnain of Haripur, Muhammad Ali of Abbottabad, Muneeb Shah of Abbottabad got fourth, fifth and sixth position among more than 50 athletes participated in the Marathon Race.
In the Nathia Gali Cycle Race from Murree Road, Siddiqullah of Peshawar won the gold medal by covering the distance of 34 km in one hour, 20 minutes and 22seconds and won the gold medal. Farman Khan of Peshawar took second position with his clock time one hour, 33 minutes and 20 sec and Imran of Peshawar got bronze medal after finishing the Cycle Race in one hour, 34 minute and 40 secs, Sajjad Ali of Peshawar, Umar Farooq finished in one hour 38 minutes and 20 sec, Asad in one hour and 38 minutes in 30 sec took fourth, fifth and sixth position respectively.
On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Tariq Salam Marwat, Zahoor Babar Afridi and DG GDA Capt. Mahmood distributed prizes among the position holders.
