Including an intelligence department person, three officials were killed and two others sustained bullets wounds when unidentified attacked on the Ajab Talab police checkpoint here in Aka Khel area of subdivision Bara on Wednesday late night.
The police official said that last night, undisclosed armed persons attacked the Melward police check post, located in a rural area, injuring six of the officials including an inspector of Intelligence Bureau(IB).
In retaliation firing of the police force, one militant was shot and dead while the rest of them successfully managed to escape.
Soon after the incident the reinforcement of the police force and Rescue 1122 officials rushed to the spot and started shifting the injured to nearest health center for medical aid, however three of them succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital.
According to Rescue1122 the deceased were identified as Amjad Afridi, Ayub and Qadeem while the wounded were ASI Nasir and Nabi Rehman.
First Information Report against unknown militants was launched and police started investigation in addition with a massive search operation launched although no arrest had been made so far, the police official informed.
