PESHAWAR
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov here Wednesday said Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoyed cordial relations and his country desired to further expand bilateral economic relations for mutual benefits of people of both countries.
Addressing the ‘Khyber Union of Journalists’ meet the press program here at Peshawar Press Club, he said people to people contacts and exchange of delegations including business community, investors, media and academicians would bring people of both the countries further closer.
The ambassador said that his country highly valued its bilateral relations with the brotherly country of Pakistan and wanted to explore further avenues to further bolster economic ties.
The two countries have always supported each other at all regional and international forms and urged Pakistani investors to take full advantage of the investment opportunities especially in oil, gas and LNG sectors in his country.
He said PIA and Azerbaijan aviation have started direct flight operation between Karachi, Lahore and Baku for the facilitation of tourists, investors, business community, media professionals and people.
Pakistan has a lot of expertise in food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, textile, leather garments, agriculture products, surgical equipment and producing quality rice while Azerbaijan is blessed in oil, gas and LNG resources, offering great opportunities for investors.
Farhadov said that both the countries have agreed to establish joint working groups in different fields including IT, health, agriculture, energy, tourism and transport to further bolster economic cooperation for benefits of people of the two nations.
Pakistan is the most beautiful country having beautiful green landscapes and tall mountains treasures carrying huge potential for tourism and adventure sports.
Regarding Peshawar, he said it was a historical city being the gateway between Central Asians Republics and Subcontinent and tourists of his country can come here to explore Ghandhara civilization, archeological and tourism rich Pakistan.
To a question about inclusion of Azerbaijan in CPEC, Ambassador Farhadov said that it was an important project and the proposal might be considered if invited by Pakistan.
To another question about the Kashmir dispute and Modi Govt’s human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jummu and Kashmir, the Azerbaijan ambassador said that his country has a principle stand on this core issue and wanted its solution as per the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
To a question about the Russia and Ukraine conflict, he clarified that Azerbaijan enjoyed cordial relations with neighboring countries and world powers and has no threat from any country.
Earlier, President Khyber Union of Journalists, Nasir Hussain and General Secretary Imran Yousafzai welcomed the distinguished guest and presented a shield to him.
