The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority in an operation near Lahore General Bus Stand area of the provincial capital recovered unhealthy oil obtained from chicken fat. More than 1,200 liters of unhealthy oil was recovered during the operation, which was obtained from chicken intestines and other such organs.
According to Shah Rukh Ali Khan, director general of the KP Food Safety Authority, the oil obtained from chicken fat was supplied from Karachi to Peshawar, which was to be used in various food processing businesses, including chips.
According to the Food Safety Authority, this unhealthy oil is brought from Iran to Pakistan, after which was being supplied to various places.
According to the Food Safety Authority, the oil obtained from chicken fat is mixed with edible oil. This is the first case of supply of smuggled chicken fat oil in Peshawar.
According to the Food Safety Authority, unhealthy oil has been seized in the operation, while strict legal action will be taken against those involved.
DG Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan, operations against adulteration mafia have been intensified in the province. Modern mobile food testing laboratories more thoroughly test the quality of food items, which can be used to detect adulteration and substandard ingredients on the spot.
He said that mobile food testing laboratories in the province would be extended to more districts.
