15 hospitals issues notices for improper disposal medical waste

KP Environmental Protection Agency (KP-EPA) issued notices to 15 private sector hospitals for improper disposal of medical waste.
According to Latif-ur-Rehman, spokesperson of the Department of Forest, Environment and Wildlife, the EPA inspection teams have conducted inspections of different hospitals, service stations and food units in Peshawar.
He said that the EPA, after proper inspection suspended 35 service stations, issued notices to 35 vehicle stations for not taking precautionary measures to protect the environment.
The agency has ordered that service stations operating illegally under the ‘Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environmental Protection Act 2014’ and Environmental Assessment Rules 2021, would be closed.
According to the spokesperson, 50 hotels and shops have also been issued work stoppage notices for causing air pollution and they have also been directed to install hoods and chimneys.
