Police claimed to have arrested nine suspects of a robber gang in the provincial capital, said a handout.
The preliminary investigation of police revealed that the arrested suspects belong to different areas who were allegedly involved in snatching mobile phones, motorcycles and cash from citizens at gunpoint.
A car, 15 motorcycles and 29 mobile phones were recovered from the possession, as well as weapons used in various incidents, two motorcycles including a Kalashnikov and a pistol were recovered during the interrogation.
According to SP City Division Atiq Shah took strict notice of the incidents of snatching street crimes, motorcycles and mobile phones in the city division and formed a special team and handed over the task of tracing and arresting the accused. SHO Bhana Mari Police Station Timur Saleem, SHO Agha Mir Jani Shah Abdul Ali, SHO Pahari Pura Police Station Abdullah Jalal, SHO Gulbahar Qazi Nisar and SHO Pandu Police Station Rafiq Khan initiated a comprehensive investigation. Strict surveillance of various criminals and suspects was started.
During the comprehensive investigation, three gangs robbing civilians at gunpoint were traced and nine accused were arrested including Mohsin, Nadir, Ehsanullah, Amir, Usmanuddin, Asif, Fahim Ashraf, Noman, and Saddam.
The real owners of motor cars, motorcycles and mobile phones have been traced and cited, while key revelations are expected from the accused during interrogation.
