PESHAWAR
The Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP) demanded to bar all those independent candidates and those people who demonstrated ‘lotacracy’ [Switching of Loyalties] from contesting the elections.
The demand was made by ATP chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah and Punjab President Mian Asif Mehmood Advocate through a joint policy statement after attending a meeting of the party’s central executive committee (CEC) and Punjab council here on Saturday.
The party’s leaders urged people to reject all such candidates, in forthcoming by-elections in Punjab, saying no matter, they have affiliation with any political parties, but their way of their should be blocked, thus, requirements of democracy, law and morality couldn’t be fulfilled.
Faiq Shah said his party has established its narrative and stance from the very first day that independent candidates and those who were involved in horse-trading, selling and buying of votes cannot become true public representatives.
None of them have any manifesto, nor ideology and public service, as they only need support of political parties or government to seize national wealth, Shah remarked.
People’s conscience won’t permit them to re-elect these faces, the ATP chief said.
Shah observed that all political parties have crossed every legal limit to conquer over the Punjab. Law, election commission and institutions have kept mum to stop them, he added.
The ATP chairman questioned: “Is this process called as democracy”?
Furthermore, he asked: “Isn’t it a joke with the law?
“We put same query before the Election Commission of Pakistan and superior judiciary that when will come supremacy of law and justice in country”,
The people who yesterday, sold themselves, they today again set up a market, Shah observed.
The ATP chairman reiterated his firm resolve to hold strict assessment as these people are not deserved for public authority.
He also vowed to approach the superior judiciary and go to every extent for giving authority to people.
