Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Eng. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said here Monday that Islamia College Peshawra after having become a public sector university in 2008, is indeed poised to facing new challenges and maintained that this premier institution will maintain the level of its glorious accomplishments.
At the same time, he added, it has also got the privilege of competing over a vast canvass both at national and international level.
He was addressing the 6th Convocation of Islamia College University at its premises on Monday. In all 256 graduates, awarded PhD, M. Phill, masters and bachelor degrees in various disciplines and amongst them 26 got gold medals for achieving distinctions in their respective disciplines.
“From today’s event coupled with many success stories, the institution carries in its credit – there exists every hope that the Islamia College University will maintain the level of its glorious accomplishments”, the Governor who is also the Chancellor of the public sector universities of the province said. Provincial minister for education Prof. Dr. Sara Safdar also attended the ceremony.
The Governor also pointed out that there can never be any substitute to quality in all respect and this cherished objective in respect of education can only be achieved if it is supplemented by character building of students.
The parents must inculcate in mind of the future generation that we all have tremendous responsibility of steering this nation towards a safe, secure and prosperous future.
The Governor congratulated the graduates for completed their studies at this prestigious historic institution and also reminded them that their parents are equally the major stake holders in their achievements, since it is their sacrifices; encouragement and support that they all have seen this day.
“You owe to this great institution; your family and the nation as well and we wish you may be able to pay back to all in the same coins”, he said.
Earlier, Prof. Dr. Habib Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of the University while presenting the annual report highlighted the achievements of the institution. The ceremony was largely attended by heads of various educational institutions, parents of the graduates and distinguished figures from different walks of life.
