Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Inayatullah Khan on Tuesday submitted an adjournment motion with provincial assembly secretariat seeking debate on continued increase in the petroleum products prices despite adequate fall of fuels in the international markets.
In his motion, JI MPA Inayatullah Khan pointed out that the people across the country, especially those who were extremely below the poverty line faced a severe financial crisis but the federal government has turned deaf ears towards their plight.
Criticizing the government for its repeated increase in petrol and diesel prices, he said that almost 50 percent of the country’s population has been forced to live in the worst situation of inflation, unemployment.
“In this situation, the prices of petroleum products and diesel have increased by Rs 90 per liter in the last two months. A new storm of inflation has arisen,” he added.
Mr Inayatullah said that despite the reduction in the prices of oil in the world market, the government should pass on the relief to masses and demanded immediate reduction in prices of petroleum products.
He said that this was an important issue and the provincial assembly members should debate on it and for this purpose all other proceedings must be suspended.
