LG bodies ensure facilities to Ashura processions across KP, says Gandapur

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Sardar Faisal Amin Gandapur has directed the quarters concerned to provide necessary facilities to all Imambargahs and mourning processions across the province.
“Arrange lighting, cleaning, drinking water, drainage and sprinkling facilities throughout the province including merged districts during Muharram days,” he stated.
He issued these directives while chairing a special meeting held to discuss arrangements during Muharram days at local government secretariat in Peshawar.
The meeting was informed about the facilities being given to mourning processions across the province.
The Local Government Minister said that local bodies and other relevant agencies have been directed to provide adequate assistance and facilities on the special days.
Special teams and squads have been formed by the TMAs, WSSCs and all major cities of the province to end, adding that control rooms had also been established in the Local Government Secretariat Peshawar office for monitoring.
The holidays of municipal employees have also been canceled on Ashura days.
Faisal Amin Gandapur expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements and directed the LG bodies across the province to provide best facilities to communities observing the events of mourning and processions.
He further directed that special teams must be formed for cleaning, water, power supply and lighting facilities of TMAs and WSSCs.
Necessary equipment and resources facilities should be continued not only till the end of Ashura at every cost but even all relevant special installations of the municipalities should not be removed before 12th day of Muharram.
The Minister recalled the tragedy of Karbala and said that the day reminds Muslims to support truth and recognize their duties in the battle of right and wrong.
All municipal officials should make a commitment to perform their duties diligently not only during Ashura of Muharram but throughout the year.
