5,700 drug peddlers arrested in police crackdowns

Capital City Police have registered more than 5,500 cases and arrested a total of 5,700 in its ongoing crackdowns on drug peddlers this year, said a handout.
The police said that during the raids and crackdowns, Ice and other drug peddlers have been specially targeted and detained around 1800 ice peddlers.
A total of 225 kg of ice, 334 kg of heroin, 528 kg of opium and more than 2200 kg of hashish have been recovered during the operations of this year.
SSP Operation Kashif Aftab Abbasi expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing crackdown against drugs and directed to speed up the public awareness campaign to eliminate the evils of drugs from the society.
He has stated that special measures have also been directed to organize special seminars and raise awareness among the citizens at the public level.
Similarly, in order to further improve the ongoing crackdown, SSP Operations Peshawar has issued directives and assigned a special task to divisional SPs for taking strict monitoring of elements involved in drug trafficking in the past.
