KP’s by-elections
PESHAWAR
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has invited applications for postal ballot papers for by-elections in three National Assembly constituencies from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The commission in a statement issued here on Wednesday fixed September 10 as the last date for receipt of application for the postal ballot papers in KP.
The ECP has fixed 25 September 2022 as a date for by-elections on the vacant seats of NA-22 Mardan, NA-24 Charsadda, NA-31 Peshawar and NA-45 Kuram.
According to ECP, this facility, under the law, has been extended to the persons in government service, members of Armed Forces, their wives, and children as are registered voters and ordinarily reside with them stationed at a place out of their constituency.
The commission said that the facility is also available to persons with disabilities who have an identity card with a special logo issued by NADRA and also to inmates in jails.
Meanwhile, such employees, including security personnel, who are on polling duty and whose vote is registered in the electoral roll of the constituency, are directed to cast their ballots by postal ballot paper within three days of the issuance of their appointment orders.
The proposed application form can be obtained from the concerned Returning Officer’s office or downloaded from the ECP website and submitted to the Returning Officer’s office, it added. Those voters who had availed the facility of postal ballot papers will not be allowed to vote directly inside the polling station, ECP stated.
