UN to launch another flash appeal on Oct 04

ISLAMABAD: United Nations (UN) will launch another flash appeal on Oct 4 for an additional $600 million in support to Pakistan for providing immediate relief to millions of flood victims across the country. WHO said there are over 50 million patients of hypertension and over 20 million of diabetes in the country. There is no shortage of different vaccines including polio in Pakistan. Over 2000 health facilities were completely or partly damaged due to flood in the country. UN Humanitarian coordinator for Pakistan has said UN will launch new flash appeal on next Tuesday which will be for immediate provision of essential goods and not for rehabilitation or reconstruction. We are working with government of Pakistan for additional appeal of 600 to 800 million dollars. We have received 60 million dollars in response to preliminary flash appeal of 160 million dollars. WHO representative said there is no shortage of polio vaccines in Pakistan which is available in adequate quantity. There is no shortage of vaccine of every kind. Vaccination process has been started. The services of additional vaccinators have been hired. Online
