Munda Headworks’ restoration would resolve farmers problems says Arshad Ayub

The provincial minister for irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan said that the provincial government was taking steps on an emergency basis to complete restoration of the Munda Headworks permanently, saying that teams were working tirelessly to carry out the maintenance work.
He has also expressed satisfaction over the water supply to the farmers from the flood damaged Munda Headworks, adding that availability of water to crops was the key priority of the irrigation department.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding the water supplies to farmers and permanent restoration of Munda Headworks.
Briefing the meeting in detail regarding the ongoing work on Munda Headworks and the steps taken to supply water to the farmers, XEN Charsadda said that in the light of the instructions of the Provincial Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan and under the supervision of the Chief Engineer South, temporary dams have been made to supply water to farmers on priority basis, due to which water supply has been restored to the farmers.
The meeting was further informed that last day the water supply in Lower Swat Canal System was 1255 cusecs, which is irrigating 134600 acres of land. Release of water from Doaba Canal Stem is 210 cusecs which is more than last year while 25368 acres of land is being irrigated from this system.
Tangi Lift Irrigation Scheme is fully operational since September, all three motors of the scheme are operational and the water output is eighteen cusecs. While work is going on to make the temporary dam stronger and more durable.
Provincial Irrigation Minister Arshad Ayub Khan expressed satisfaction over the supply of water to the farmers and said that the farmers should not face any shortage of water under any circumstances.
In the meeting, the proposed plan regarding the restoration of Munda Headworks on a permanent basis was also presented, on which the participants had a discussion.
